LOST IN THE SOCK

HOW IT GOT STARTED
Our Journey to become 46ers
We're what you call "planners", especially when it comes to the difficult challenge of becoming a 46er. There are great blogs and forums out there that help with this task and my goal is for this to be an additional resource along with being able to share our experience. Hope you enjoy and feel free to share your experiences with us! PS this is the view from Armstrong Peak looking towards Gothics.

LEAVE NO TRACE
Leave No Trace has seven basic principles.
1. PLAN AHEAD AND PREPARE
Before going someplace new, please always look up current regional rules.
Be prepared for inclement weather or emergencies.
Travel in small groups to reduce impact.
2. STAY ON THE TRAIL
Walk through the mud, not around it.
Don’t step on the vegetation.
Stay on rock as much as possible
Camp only in designated areas. Camping above a certain altitude is forbidden.
3. DISPOSE OF WASTE PROPERLY
Bring your trash home with you.
Carry in, carry out.
Use existing bathrooms, if necessary dig an appropriate cathole.
Use biodegradable soaps.
4. LEAVE EVERYTHING WHERE IT WAS BEFORE YOU CAME
There should be no evidence other than your pictures that you were here.
Do not take rocks or plants or anything else home.
Do not build structures.
5. RESPECT THE WILDLIFE
Leash your dog.
Keep your distance.
6. MINIMIZE FIRES
Only build a fire in designated areas, use existing rings.
7. RESPECT OTHERS
Be respectful of their experience.
Yield to others
Keep your volume low.
Remember that these rule are set in place to protect these beautiful spaces and if we are not careful, we are in danger of losing access. Please respect the rules so future visitors experience these amazing wonders. If you have any questions you can find more information at https://www.adk.org/discover/leave-no-trace/
